Safety
Chatroom is for adults who want to chat, and only hear from the people they choose. Here's how that works.
Adults only
Everyone confirms they're 18 or over and gives a date of birth when they join. Reports that someone may be under 18 go to the top of the moderation queue, and the account is closed.
You choose who can reach you
Only contacts you've accepted can see whether you're online. Choose Appear offline any time. Blocking someone hides you from each other everywhere on the site, immediately.
Photos need permission
Nobody can send you a photo in a private message unless you've allowed it, one person at a time. Photos arrive hidden, can be unsent, have location data removed, and delete themselves after 7 days. Profile photos are checked by a moderator before anyone sees them.
Report anything
Every name, message and photo has a Report button. A reported photo is hidden from both people straight away, and the sender can't send more until a moderator has looked at it.
48 hours for serious complaints
Non-consensual images, anyone who may be under 18 and illegal content are dealt with within 48 hours — usually much sooner. Anyone, member or not, can use our complaints page.
No links or photos in rooms
Rooms are text-only, which stops spam, scam links and surprise images.
Never send money
Asking other members for money, gift cards or crypto gets an account removed. No chat site can promise nobody will ever try it on, so report anyone who does.
